Adopting a shelter pet can be an incredibly rewarding experience. Many people will never experience the true and honest love that a shelter pet rewards his or her new family with. By adopting from FHA or TMAS, you are saving a life.

In order to adopt from us, you must be 18 years of age or older, fill out an application, and meet with an officer.

Adoption fee for animals in FHA's care is currently $50. Adult (over 4 months) animals that have been fixed from TMAS are $75. Puppies from TMAS as $55 with a $100 spay and neuter deposit.

BOTH FHA AND TUSCALOOSA METRO REQUIRE THAT ANIMALS ADOPTED FROM US BE SPAYED OR NEUTERED; TO ADOPT YOU MUST SIGN AN AGREEMENT THAT THE PET WILL BE FIXED, AND WE WILL CHECK BACK WITH YOU.

If you are interested in adopting from FHA or Tuscaloosa Metro Animal Shelter, please send an email titled "adoption" to fha@ua.edu. Include the animal's name if you have seen one on the website you are interested in, or let us know if you are waiting for a certain breed (please note: most of the breeds we get are mixes.)

We ARE able to transport animals out of Alabama. If you would like to adopt but are not from Tuscaloosa, contact us and we will do our best to work it out.
